Barbara Baquero, MPH, PhD
Dr. Baquero is an Assistant Professor at University of Iowa College of Public Health, Department of Community and Behavioral Health and Deputy Director of the University of Iowa Prevention Research Center. Her research focuses on reducing health inequalities on obesity and cancer through incorporating social, cultural and structural correlates of health in the design, implementation and dissemination of community-based interventions for Latinos and underserved communities, applying a community-based participatory research approach. Her most recent work focuses on the implementation of evidence-based interventions and strategies to promote physical activity, access to healthy foods and cancer prevention among Latinos in new destination communities in the Midwest. Dr. Baquero received her PhD in Public Health from San Diego State University and UC San Diego and her MPH in Health Promotion from San Diego State University. She trained as a post-doctoral W.K. Kellogg Health Scholar on Community-Based Participatory Research at UNC Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health.
